Early Life
Born in 1953 in Beijing as the son of revolutionary veteran Xi Zhongxun. During the Cultural Revolution, his father was purged and Xi spent seven years in rural exile. He studied chemical engineering at Tsinghua University and later earned a doctorate in law.
